Sporty chic
Sporty chic fashion combines the effortlessness of athleisure (think leggings, sweat pants and hoodies) with a sophisticated edge. It's all about comfort that still looks and feels put-together.
A white sneaker is a staple shoe for a very good reason. It pairs with pretty much everything, and perfectly suits the 'sporty chic' trend for summer.
"Track jackets are huge for the spring [for] both men and women," explains DeSorbo. She loves this windbreaker from H&M, which combines style and function for brisk spring and summer days.
"This is a modern take on the track jacket," says DeSorbo. "Traditionally, they’re worn with sweats, but this is a way to elevate the look and wear it out to dinner. Doing it with a linen pant or chino elevates the look, [and] the jacket is the main focus," such as the pant above.
Sometimes all you need is a good basic to complete an outfit. This H&M tee comes in a variety of colors and sizes to complement all sorts of style pairings.
Capri pants
Capris might've been a popular pick in the 1950s and early 2000s, but like all trends, Paige DeSorbo says they're making a comeback for summer 2025.
Capri-style pants hit right in the middle of the calf, just below the knee and above the ankle, so they're shorter than you're standard leg pants.
Capri pants are back, and this Amazon pick are a modern take on the trend. "These are truly the easiest wardrobe staple," DeSorbo raves, as they're flattering on, and easy to dress up or down.
'Wedge sandals' and 'thong sandals' are having a big moment on search. They look like flip flops (and have the comfort of them, too), but have a heel at the end for a bit of height and a more dressed up feel.
A white button-up can make the most casual days just a bit more dressier. Wear on its own or layered over a basic tee or tank for endless ways of styling.
Pair the above with a silk scarf around the neck for a pop of color, such as one with the trending seasonal color, butter yellow. "You can really wear this outfit anywhere, to work or to brunch," recommends DeSorbo. "It's super comfortable, and you look chic!"
Monochrome sets
A monochrome outfit focuses on styling a singular color. It can consist of the same color palette without needing to be the exact same shade, such as pairing a light blue top with a dark blue bottom, for an effortless and cohesive look.
Monochromatic sets, such as the one above, are "a modern take on a suit" says DeSorbo. "[It's] easy to take [the] jacket off and wear a different shirt. [You] can [even] wear both pieces separately — [it's] extremely versatile."
To maintain the monochrome look, pair the set with monochrome accessories, from a matching colored tee and a belt.
These dress pants go with the jacket above. But what also makes them stayed out is their wide leg, which can elongate the legs and balance your silhouette. "Flare/wide leg pants are really in for men," notes DeSorbo. "This is an easy way to get the look."
A dressy yet wearable loafer can easily be affordable. Case in point: This pick from H&M, which comes in two colors — black and tan — and a subtle lift.
Ballet core
Ballet core is more than just wearing the iconic shoe of a dancer. Ballet core is all about dainty styles, flowing silhouettes and of course, baby pink.
Mom jeans, like the Zara pair above, are consistently a style favorite. Their high rise fit and straight leg are what make them flattering, comfortable and stylish year-round.
"Pale pink is a huge color this season!" emphasizes DeSorbo. "This trend is a great way to get the pop of pink without going full in; it's equal parts chic and girly." Plus, the simple, satin ballet flat encompasses the trend perfectly.
"This sheer and flowing top is giving ballerina!" boasts DeSorbo. "The top is so versatile — can be worn as a dress with a blazer over, a bathing suit cover up and a top."
Summer means you'll need all of the warm weather basics, from tees to tanks. This Amazon find is double-layered, smoothing and breathable.
"This pale pink purse ties in the pop of color from the shoes," says DeSorbo. It can also be converted from a clutch into a shoulder bag to suit your vibe.
