Mamdani Stuns Cuomo in New York City Mayoral Primary

02:34

33-year-old Democratic socialist and New York assembly member Zohran Mamdani pulled off a major upset against former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor. Mamdani was polling just 1% a few months ago but gained prominence online with viral videos and a strong debate performance. For Cuomo, it’s a major setback in what would have been the start of his political comeback nearly four years after resigning as governor following allegations of sexual harassment. NBC’s Emilie Ikeda reports for TODAY.
